Mail delivery is used for staff invitations and member signup emails.

Posts live in MariaDB; themes and images live in storage. To restore you need both, and tidoly backup keeps each of them separately.

If member signup/login emails don't arrive, check the sender address

Ghost builds the sender address for member emails (signup and login links) from the site address on its own — e.g. if the site is blog.example.com, it's noreply@blog.example.com. If the external mail server registered in the mail relay only allows sending from registered domains, these emails are rejected.

  1. Open Ghost admin → Settings → Portal. The address is https://<Ghost address>/ghost/#/settings/portal.
  2. Change the Signup Portal's sender email address to an address on a domain the external mail server allows — e.g. noreply@example.com.

In this case the member signup/login screen shows an error, but the notification email sent to the admin right after setup uses the sender address set at install time and is delivered normally. If admin emails arrive but only member emails don't, this is the cause.

Original media is not backed up

tidoly backup keeps only settings and library information. Original video and music files are not backed up because of their size, so store them separately.
